British Brigade HQ & Medics

German Truck mounted FlaK

Two recent models finally completed to add to the German anti-aircraft efforts:

The captured U.S. 2.5 ton truck is a Hasagawa model with Britannia Flak 20mm and Greatcoat crew, while the armoured Opel Blitz is by Milicast, again with a Britannia Flak 20mm and Greatcoat crew.

Recent Additions - 21st Panzer Division Normandy

I completed a few more of the vehicles for Panzer Grenadier Regiment 125:

Motorcycles and OP, part of the Regiment HQ:

Motorcycles are Britannia, while the Lorraine OP is a modified RAFM model, with a Britannia FO

2nd Battalion, 8th Company

Both vehicles are Raventhorpe, you can now get each through Ready to Roll.  The SPW P107 Flak 20mm (left) and Somua PaK 40 (right) half tracks have Britannia crews, with the exception of the drivers, which come with the kit.   According to a recent posting on the Society of Gentleman Gamers site, the Somua was right-hand drive.  I had already assembled two Somua PaK 40's and a multi-barrel mortar half track with the driver on the left, so I'm leaving them as they are!

Further to my Britannia - Valiant musings, here are two of my favourites:

Britannia Sherman ARV and crew:

I have been struggling with the incompatibility between Britannia infantry and Valiant infantry.   While I enjoy each, I do have trouble using both on the same table, and this has (unintentionally) created two distinct groups of troops.   The pictures below show a RAFM 6pdr anti-tank gun with Britannia crew (on the left) and Valiant crew (on the right):

While I really like the easy manner the Valiant figures can be painted, I struggle with their size compared with the Britannia figures.  At the moment, I have 8 battalions of British (four each) and 13 battalions of German (9 Britannia and 4 Valiant):

To complicate matters, I have also been seduced into purchasing Plastic Soldier Company kits (to accompany the Valiant troops) in addition to the large numbers of Britannia and RTR AFV's in my collection.   Sherman Firefly:

Sunday 16 August 2015

Been busy finishing off the various units required for Kampfgruppe von Luck: have all the infantry and vehicles completed with the exceptions of the SPW P107 command half-track (on order) and to complete the camouflage on the Somua multi-barrel mortar half-track.   Most of the vehicles still require crews, which are being painted.  Once I figure out how to post photographs, I will include pictures of each of the units.

Have also been assembling and painting other units outside of the scenario, including British artillery, antitank guns and Churchills (IV; VII & Bridgelayer models); German SPAA, more 21 Panzer Division "specials" and a pair of Tiger 1E's; and a miscellany of Russian AFV's and vehicles.   As above, will post photographs once I master that aspect of the Blog!
